Austin is also the Principal of RiverStone RECAP, a commercial real estate mortgage brokerage firm in Jacksonville, Florida. The company utilizes commercial real estate lenders which include: Life Insurance companies, CMBS lenders, GSEs, Banks, Cooperatives, and Credit Unions. At RiverStone RECAP, Austin manages the origination, underwriting, and placement of mortgages. Prior to this company, he was responsible for originating commercial real estate loans at Capital Advisors. He also previously worked at Corinthian Real Estate where he assisted in financial underwriting, market research, and investment packaging.

[2:43] Austin started a Commercial Real Estate Mortgage Company back in 2013.
[3:34] He got interested with Commercial Real Estate during college at the University of Florida.
[4:34] After getting his Masters, Austin worked in a Mortgage Brokerage Company.
[5:50] Austin quit his job after 2 years and started his independent brokerage company RiverStone RECAP.
[6:50] He hired Virtual Assistants, mainly from the Philippines, to help him.
[8:03] “I wanted to work smarter but I still work hard because I enjoyed it!”
[10:47] Austin created his own database of Commercial Real Estate Loans that were showing loans that are maturing.
[13:15] He started the Podcast because he feels he need something else to do rather than burning himself out of working.
[18:20] “I just thought it would be a cool niche to have a variety of people who are listening and a variety of people who are coming on the Podcast and then just make it a longer form and then try to get more information instead of asking the same questions over and over…”
[23:00] Austin try to be smart about spending money.
[28:27] Austin prefers hiring Virtual Assistants from the Philippines because of easy communication since Filipinos speak English well.
[30:57] “The main thing I guess, over this time, that keeps me driven was I really like what I was doing. I never thought it as a job.”
[34:40] Austin’s parents are lawyers and his Dad has his own Law Firm and seeing his Dad having more freedom to do what he wants, inspired him to have his own business.
[37:19] Before starting the Podcast, Austin went on Reddit and asked people what they want or they don’t want to hear from an Entrepreneurship Podcast.
[45:06] “Who would have thought back in High School that I’ll be talking to people all around the world about growing their businesses…. I think overall this is a concept of trying to talk to people not only in different industries but different areas because then they have their life’s perspective as well.”
