Thoran Rodrigues is the founder and CEO of BigData Corp which helps companies to automate the way they work with huge volumes of information. He has over a decade of experience in the Tech market in Brazil, having worked in places of all shapes and sizes, from university labs to consulting firms. In 2011, after almost a decade working for others, Thoran decided to open his first company. Today, he run BigData Corp., a four-year old startup which is one of the leaders in the Big Data market with clients all over the world.

– Sell data that they already captured and structured.
– Collecting data to enable new AI application.
[6:35] “A lot of the social network data is blocked for privacy reason and our data capture process is really well-behaved.”
[8:05] The company is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and they have 3 internet service providers since the city has unreliable internet connections.
[11:09] They charge clients depending on the size of data the company provides.
[15:11] “A lot of people that are opening their own businesses, they think it was going to be a short run, a year or maybe two and they’ll be making money and life will be good. In reality, it takes longer than that..”
[16:45] Big Data Corp has 37 employees and last year, the revenue was over $3million.
[18:38] The company is constantly growing so they have to deal with looking for office space that will accommodate all the employees.
