Background on Diana Goodwin of MarketBox:

Diana Goodwin is Founder & CEO of MarketBox, a B2B SaaS product which enables service-based marketplaces and businesses to grow and scale their businesses. Diana initially founded AquaMobile, an on-demand swim lesson provider which is now the largest of its kind in North America and Australia. The AquaMobile software gave her the opportunity to start and spin out MarketBox.

Diana is considered a tech innovator and thought-leader in marketplace businesses, the gig economy and scaling businesses internationally and can regularly be seen speaking at events, sharing her knowledge with both corporate and entrepreneurial audiences. She's been profiled in Forbes, Inc., Huffington Post, Techvibes and Dragons' Den to name a few. She has won numerous business awards including Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Telus $100,000 Small Business Challenge.

  • [1:13] Based in Toronto Canada, MarketBox is a B2B SaaS platform that manages the logistics and sales of selling services.
  • [3:18] Being into sports, especially swimming, greatly influenced Diana when she created AquaMobile. She talked more about starting AquaMobile.
  • [6:41] In college, Diana was varsity in track and field and soccer. When she graduated, she worked for Bain and Company as a management consultant.

  • [16:47] After 3 years of working in the management consulting company, Diana went into a top business school, which is the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
  • [20:38] During the first year of her business in Ontario, she made $80,000 in revenue. She was also ready to take her business to the US.
  • [23:14] There were many mistakes made when she was developing her software.
  • [25:40] Diana’s website crashed, which cost her a huge amount of money in revenue and a lot of angry customers.
  • [31:46] AquaMobile got some good publicities and media exposure, which allowed other businesses to look into their software and technology.
  • [33:57] Diana needed a talented tech partner when she was starting MarketBox. It took her several months before she found the right developer for her new business.
  • [38:57] MarketBox wasn’t publicly revealed to the people until November 2019. Diana waited almost a year before she told anyone about her new business.
  • [41:52] The monthly minimum fee for the MarketBox platform is $250. They wanted MarketBox to be affordable to their customers and help them grow their businesses.
  • [43:46] Diana provides some examples of businesses that can benefit from their software platform.
  • [46:06] She explains the advantages of using the MarketBox platform to your business.
