- [1:03] KidsCare Home Health started in 2003 with ten patients, and today they have over 3,500 patients and 530 employees.
- [2:51] Last year, they had gross revenue of $XXXXXXXX and they are hoping to double it this year.
- [4:05] In 2012, Cortney decided to move away from the daily operations of her company. She went back to school to get a doctorate degree in leadership.
- [5:05] Graduated in the top 4% of her class in high school and then became a single teenage mother six months later. Cortney shares the story of how she started her own company.
- [12:07] Cortney shares the story of how she decided to start KidsCare Home Health.
- [17:15] During the earliest days of KidsCare Home Health, they were sued by their former employer.
- [20:07] In the first few months of their business, Cortney had no idea how to do the billings and they were not getting paid.
- [23:40] Just by giving out flyers, they were able to grow their business tremendously.
- [25:33] As Cortney was getting ready for her in-service, her cat urinated on their full-colored brochures, which almost broke her down.
- [27:39] She learned a hard lesson when choosing a business partner.
- [30:25] In 2005. her friend, who was also her director of nursing, was sabotaging her by stealing her company’s policies and procedures.
- [33:03] In 2012, Cortney had a stroke and underwent brain surgery. She learned a good business lesson from this experience.
- [41:23] After writing her book Unlimited: Conquering the Myth of the Glass Ceiling, Cortney didn’t know what to do and she didn’t feel that she has a purpose in life.
- [42:32] According to Cortney, when you’re involved in healthcare, you are also involved in politics whether you like it or not, which makes it challenging.
- [46:39] Cortney finally found something that she wanted to pursue, which involves mentoring young female entrepreneurs and helping them become leaders and CEOs.
- [53:18] Today, Cortney is very happy seeing that she is making a difference mentoring young women and helping them grow in the business world.
