Background on Charles Bonfiglio of Tint World:

Charles J. Bonfiglio is the Franchise Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Tint World. The company is a privately owned franchise chain of independent retail window tinting, mobile electronics, auto accessories and appearance centers. As the lead executive of Tint World, Charles is responsible for all functions related to the development and leadership of the company in growing the family of franchise stores.

Charles oversees all sales and marketing functions within the company, including the COO, VP of Marketing, VP of Training and the Director of Franchise Development. He directs all aspects of the company’s business planning, performance reporting and execution of the annual product catalog. He has consistently achieved annual growth rate company-wide of more than 10% while maintaining and growing profit margins.

Finally, Charles administers the company’s annual marketing plan, including brand development, creative artwork, design, and internet marketing services that includes PR, SEO, SEM, Social Media Marketing.

  • [4:30] Charles Bonfiglio started his entrepreneurial journey when he was just a teenager and he started working in his father’s clothing factory.
  • [6:56] At such a young age, Charles dreamed of becoming a success in the clothing business.
  • [11:54] He designed his own clothing line and he needed to sell it to the department stores. He got a lot of rejections until he found a store that was willing to take his clothing line. He got a million-dollar order for this one store in New Jersey.
  • [17:21] Having bigger dreams and wanting to do things on his own, Charles decided to go into a business that is very different from his father’s clothing business.
  • [21:00] There was a strong desire for Charles to learn new things and do everything on his own.
  • [22:25] He had a vision of moving to Florida and having his own business. He sold all his possessions, gave the clothing business to his sister and moved to Florida.
  • [25:48] A wedding in New York opened up an opportunity for Charles to become a franchisee of a muffler business.
  • [32:24] Being a franchisee and working within a polished business system made him realize that he wanted to be the number one franchisee.
  • [33:45] Learning from the technicians and other franchisee, listening to the customers, and adding some services made Charles the top franchisee of Meineke Auto.
  • [38:54] An encounter with a guy named Howard, who had a broken car that Charles fixed for free, turned out to be the guy who would help him buy his own property and build his ideal store.
  • [50:37] Having that experience with Howard pushed Charles in the proper direction towards real estate development.
  • [55:53] In the early 90’s, Charles was helping other franchisees.
  • [1:00:47] Charles tells the story of how he got into computer technology and how it had a positive impact on the business.
  • [1:06:31] There were a couple of productive books that were really inspirational for Charles.
  • [1:08:00] In 2005, Charles wanted to start two new businesses in a totally different industry.
